I am a California licensed Marriage Family Therapist (Lic. No. MFC31062) and have been in private practice for over twenty years. My training includes pastoral counseling, family therapy and short-term emotionally focused therapy. For nine years, I served as Director of inpatient and outpatient chemical dependency programs. I have extensive experience working with addictive behaviors, family of origin issues, depression and anxiety in both individuals and couples.
My theoretical approach to therapy includes: intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy to help you feel your true emotions; cognitive behavioral therapy to help you understand the impact of faulty thinking; and mindfulness, to bring your focus to the present.
For five years, I was an Adjunct Professor on the Graduate Faculty of the Marriage Family Therapy Program at San Diego State University. I am a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and consultant to corporation and hospitals. I am also Certified as a Gambling Counselor by the California State Office of Problem Gambling.
